Life is Music Vol. 2 : My 2017, My Music
2017 was the year of music. New sounds, new voices and new creators abound to create what seemed to be the greatest year of music in a long time. Artists formerly known for their aggressive and intense delivery opened themselves up to a lighter and more intuitive sound base while others continued working with the same styles that has already brought them so much success. In my honest opinion I’ve dubbed 2017 a time for discovery in a music sense. For myself this year I’ve listened to more new artists and genres than of the past years of my life combined.
By opening myself up to new ideas and sounds of various artists, my preferences for music have vastly changed and became far more complex and diverse. On multiple occasions, my suggestions of music titles to others has been very mixed with what I’ve listened to in the past and what I now currently enjoy. It’s gotten to a point where I’m proud of my music tastes and I’m not fearful to share what genres, artists and songs appeal to me the most even if they’re not the most critically acclaimed.
Music has the powerful ability to bring forth emotions and truths not easily spoken. At times, I’ve found myself being able to learn more about an individual through their music taste than the words not commonly spoken to me. Not saying I’m judging the individual by any means, it just provides a deeper insight into some people that maybe wouldn’t have been reached through other forms of media.
I’ll always find beauty in music and I think it remains as one of the few pure forms of art we have left. Artists still can present their products in the forms in which they approve of and now have the benefit of having them shared to a wide audience in real time. Never has the world seen a time of musical abundance as we now enjoy. More and more we’re seeing individuals flock towards new genres of music and attempting to engage their minds to deeper realms of music which has taught them different things about themselves not discovered before.
With those discovering come proper sharing. I personally view music sharing as a gift you can easily present to someone, and everyone has so much to give. That’s the beauty of music, with the immense amount of content available, there’s so much to share with others. From rediscovering old music to falling in love with new music, the endless possibilities of sounds and vibes abound.
In return we find ourselves more and more connected to each other with each lyric or sound we find ourselves drawing closer to. With that being said I want to present my final playlist for 2017 entitled: Life is Music Vol. 2: My 2017, My Music.
Filled with many different songs, genres, and artists that have created various masterpieces not just in 2017 but through various years. The idea is that these were the songs that shaped my 2017 and got me through the good times and the not so good times. We gravitate towards similar feelings and sometimes it pulls us towards music. These songs became the feelings, thoughts, ideas and responses I’ve had to various aspects of my life in 2017 which easily became the most intense and intriguing year of my life.
It’s been a time of blessings, pain, passion, understanding but most importantly, hope.
Here’s to 2018, but for now enjoy Life is Music Volume 2: My 2017, My Music:
