Life is Music: New Finds Vol.1
New Finds is a new segment where I’ll discuss and show new music I’ve recently discovered in hopes to share new sounds to as many people as possible. Music is boundless, and its influences are around us at every peak and point of life. Music caps vacations, experiences and memories with each other both good and bad. Music says what cant be easily spoken and unites where there is division. Each group and artist featured here derives to tell their story through their sounds and unite different individuals inside their common goal.
One of the best feelings I gain from discovering new music is allowing the sounds to paint a new picture inside of my day. New sounds can uplift or resonate with somber feelings of exclusions. Regardless, new music is incredible and something that needs to be widely shared with others.
New Finds Vol.1
This opening volume of features sounds from artists and groups such as: MGMT, Small Black, Beach Fossils, Park, Squares, and Alleys and many more. Consisting of sounds inspired to create calm in your everyday interactions with life, volume one emulates peace. We’re in a golden age in music where artists and groups enjoy a freedom to create music inside a wide spectrum of their minds and realities.
Personal favorites from Volume 1:
Mine by Bazzi: Light hearted love and relevant rhythms, Bazzi captures love in the modern era and the debate of wanting what we can or sometimes can’t have. Letting you desire to have someone and feel that they’re yours but at the same time leaving you wondering if someone truly is?
We’re Not Just Friends by Parks, Squares and Alleys: This vibe gives me a heavy spring/early summer vibe pointing towards things to come and optimism. At the same time, it’s a reflection of young love and feelings that may be one-sided and misguided. We’re not just friends, in my mind. Story of my life.
Tonight by Mishegas: It’s something about soft sounds and calming beats that define my music choices in 2018.
All Alone by Acid Ghost: I love nothing more than soft vocals over mellow beats, especially when the lyrics match so closely to a reality. This is the perfect road trip song, even if you make the trip all alone.
Me and Michael: MGMT seems to never disappoint time and time again changing up their sound to a modern “dark age” vibe. Me and Michael mimics 80’s vibes of love and nostalgia but also a somber sadness to the mind.
